If your computer was preinstalled with the Windows® 7 Professional operating system through the downgrade rights of the Windows® 8.1 Pro or Windows 10 Pro license, you are entitled to upgrade to the licensed OS (Windows® 10 Pro or Windows® 8.1 Pro).
If your computer was preinstalled with the Windows 10 Professional operating system through the downgrade rights of the Windows 11 Pro license, you are entitled to upgrade to the licensed OS (Windows 11 Pro).
What is Digital download ( Click to expand for more details )
Lenovo Digital Download Recovery Service (DDRS) downloads all of the files needed to create a Lenovo Recovery USB key. A Lenovo Recovery USB key enables you to reinstall Microsoft Windows® and other Lenovo-installed files onto your Lenovo computer. The USB key reinstalls the version of Windows for which the computer is licensed. More detail please refer to the link

You’ll need at least a 16GB USB key to download the recovery files. Downloading time will vary depending on internet speed.
For Downgrade machines, Lenovo will provide either Digital Download (download files and create Recovery Media USB key by customer) or USB Recovery key ( Lenovo ship to customer).
If your machine type is Non-Downgrade, only Digital Download available.
Note: Lenovo is only allowed to send recovery media for your systems licensed OS.
Lenovo is not allowed to send:
•Windows 8.1 Pro for a Windows 10 Pro licensed system
•Windows 10 Pro for a Windows 8.1 Pro licensed system
•Windows 10 Pro for a Windows 11 Pro licensed system
•Windows 11 Pro for a Windows 10 Pro licensed system

1. Determine Eligibility.
2. Submit and create the recovery media order. (A Lenovo ID is required, what is
Lenovo ID? Sign up for
Lenovo ID)
3. Order confirmation.
4. Email confirmation. (Allow 2-3 business days for this email)
5. Download USB creator tool, details refer to “How to download files from Lenovo and create the Recovery USB Key”.
6. Log into the USB Creator tool with Lenovo ID and download the files and create the recovery USB key.
7. Use the recovery key to recover your system to the new OS.
