Coin Cell Battery Replacement - ThinkPad E550, E555, E550c
- Slide the battery locking switch into the unlocked position.
- Slide and hold the release latch into the unlock position, and slide the battery out of the bay.
- Loosen three captive screws from the large bottom cover.
- Grasp the cover at the access notch, and lift the cover to release the clips.
- Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
- Raise the black antenna cable out of the way.
- Use a flat non-metallic tool to pry the battery from its adhesive backing.
- Work the cable out from under the cables to remove the battery.
- Feed the Coin-cell battery cable under the other cables.
- Lower the battery into its compartment, and press it into place using the adhesive backing.
- Connect the battery cable to the system board.
- Install the black antenna cable back into its cable guide.
- Place the tabs of the large bottom cover into the corresponding slots in the chassis.
- Lower the cover into place, and secure it with three captive screws.
- Make sure all of the clips are secure.
- Slide the battery pack onto the rails of the battery bay until it clicks into place.
- Slide the locking switch into the locked position.
